Have an amazing summer and good luck next year!

We did it! Kindergarten is done for the year and we had a great year at that! Thank you so much for everything this year. We told the kids they had two jobs they had to do this summer: 1. read and 2. play outside! We hope they are able to do both everyday!

You may have already heard, but we had a few special visitors on Friday morning! Mrs. Antonioli, Ryann and Rorie came to see us at school. I did not tell the kids they were coming so they were all shocked when they saw Mrs. Antonioli pushing that big stroller out to the playground! Many of them had to look several times before they were sure it was her! Everyone got to see/meet the girls and were very enamored by them. We've also been taking our work outside to enjoy this beautiful weather! Tomorrow we are supposed to go to the beach, weather pending. We are going as of now, check in with us in the morning if you plan on joining us to make sure the trip is still on! Your child will need: lunch/drink from home, sunscreen and a towel/blanket to sit on for lunch. They may being sand toys/balls but they must fit in their backpack and be able to carry them!
Fingers crossed for good weather tomorrow!!! Because of the iffy weather tomorrow, we are rescheduling our North Beach trip for Tuesday, 6/13!
We hope you can make it! This morning we ate Ate the Rainbow and our color was orange. We sampled: oranges, orange peppers, carrots, cantaloupe and peaches. The favorites were oranges, carrots and peaches! We also learned about a new artist, Jasper Johns, today. We made our own Jasper Johns art and they look great! We made the most of the rainy day and had a long Choice Time this afternoon!
Each morning this week we are going to "Eat the Rainbow" and try fruits and vegetables that are various rainbow colors. Today was RED day and we sampled: raspberries, tomatoes, red peppers,s strawberries and watermelon. Below are some pictures of what we did! This afternoon we finished up our June calendars which you will find in your child's backpack.
This week in Literacy we have been working on some new glued sounds, 'ing' and 'ang'. We now have 5 glued sounds. This afternoon we had a very special guest, Mr. Chin (Liam's grandfather) come and teach us about kyudo, a mindful archery practice. It was very interesting and I think the kids learned a lot! Remember, there's no school on Monday, Happy Memorial Day and enjoy your long weekend!
Last week during Literacy we spent a lot of time on persuasive writing, books bags and word problems. Thursday morning was our K/1 Spring Concert and the kids did a GREAT job! We also had some of our Kindergarten friends put on a play that they have been working on. Friday morning we had a very special guest join us at Morning Meeting, Champ, the Lakemonster's mascot! Orchard School is doing a fundraising event with the Lakemonsters and you will find more information in your child's Friday Folder.
This morning we added a new spring poem to our binders. Here are 3 word problems we also worked on during math. DON'T FORGET... Wednesday is half day, dismissal is at 11:30 and lunch will NOT be served. Thursday morning, 8:30 is the K/1 Spring Concert in the gym!
We made up for lost time this morning and spent a lot of time out in the woods! We talked a lot about how much it's changed since we were last out there. There are green leaves, some trees look more bare than before, some trees have fallen down and there were a lot more bugs!
